Explore the PNW in your mercedes sprinter.

Looking for the best places in Washington to camp in your Sprinter van? You're in luck! Our beautiful state offers a variety of campgrounds perfect for class-B camper vans. From coastal escapes to mountain hideaways, there's something to fit your needs. In this blog, we'll highlight some of the top campgrounds in Washington that are perfect for Sprinter van camping.

Fay Bainbridge Park

Fay Bainbridge Park offers a prime camping experience for Sprinter van owners. Located just a short ferry ride from the city, the park provides spacious campsites with stunning waterfront views of Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline. It is an ideal spot to park your van and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Camping at Fay Bainbridge Park allows Sprinter van owners to immerse themselves in nature while still enjoying convenient amenities. It features clean restrooms, picnic areas, and beach access, providing everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Whether you're looking to relax by the water, explore the nearby hiking trails, or unwind by the beach, camping at Fay Bainbridge Park offers an escape from the city without having to drive too far. Plus, with its proximity to Bainbridge Island's attractions and activities, there's plenty to see and do during your camping adventure.

Colonial Creek Campground

Located in the heart of North Cascades National Park, Colonial Creek Campground is a fantastic home base for Sprinter van owners looking to explore the area. The campground offers private sites perfect for van campers, allowing for easy setup and access to amenities.

From here, you can conveniently access hiking trails, fishing spots, and scenic viewpoints, making it an ideal spot to relax and soak in the natural surroundings. While staying at this campground, we highly recommend taking a hike on the Thunder Knob Trail, a 3.4-mile path offering stunning views of Diablo Lake. Whether you're planning an active outdoor adventure or a relaxing weekend, Colonial Creek Campground offers a convenient and comfortable home base for your trip.

Moran State Park

Located on Orcas Island in the San Juans, Moran State Park is an excellent choice for Sprinter van owners looking for an accessible camping destination. The property features spacious campsites suitable for Sprinter vans.

One of the park's standout features is its year-round accessibility, making it a convenient destination for those seeking outdoor adventures regardless of the season. Thanks to Orcas Island's mild climate, visitors don't have to worry about snowfall interfering with their camping plans. Be sure to head up to Mount Constitution for sweeping views of the San Juan Islands while you’re in the area. We also recommend checking out Girl Meets Dirt, a local shop offering all our favorite goodies: wine, jams, cheeses, and more.

Salt Creek Recreation Area

One of our favorite camping spots on the Olympic Peninsula is Salt Creek Recreation Area, offering a convenient and scenic camping spot for Sprinter van owners. Its spacious campsites include ample space for camper van owners.

One notable advantage of Salt Creek, similar to Moran State Park, is its accessibility throughout the year. If you’re looking for a campsite that's accessible during those cold winter months, Salt Creek is a great option. The temperate climate of the Olympic Peninsula means that visitors don't have to worry about extreme weather conditions. Salt Creek offers Sprinter van owners the option to explore the rugged coastline, tide pools, and scenic viewpoints of Salt Creek Recreation Area. Salt Creek Recreation Area is also known for its excellent surfing opportunities, drawing surfers from all over the country to catch waves. With consistent swells and picturesque surroundings, this is the perfect spot for surfers and van lifers.
