Mike’s 1978 Air-Cooled VW Bus

We had a blast converting our first customer project: Mike’s 1978 Volkswagen Bus. When we first launched our electric conversions business, Mike quickly reached out to us about his vehicle. He had originally bought his bus during COVID with the intention of converting it to electric. Mike and his family were actually Peace Vans renters prior to his purchase of a VW Bus.

We are so happy to have fulfilled Mike’s dream of being the owner of an electric Volkswagen Bus. He enjoys the lack of exhaust fumes and loud noises, describing his newly converted vehicle as “quiet and clean.” He looks forward to taking his wife and daughter on adventures without having to worry about the safety of his van. 1971 Doka (Double Cab)

Peter’s 71 Conversion

Peter purchased his beloved Bay Window DOKA back in 1996 and were the second owners. After using the truck as a true working vehicle for years, it went “under the knife” in 2010 for a full restoration - mechanical, interior and body/paint. Once that project was complete, the truck returned to Peter’s property to continue hauling plants, dirt and dump runs. Fast forward another 13 years and Peter decided to take on another large project and convert the vehicle to electric. As a passionate (and very informed) EV user already, Peter knew what he wanted out of a classic VW turned electric and he knew Peace Vans was the team to do it. Peter wanted to be able to comfortably drive from Port Townsend, WA to Seattle with no issues so range was a priority. Also, with such a beautifully restored truck, Peter wanted each system to be meticulously gone through and the finished product to not just work flawlessly but to look great to. We delivered the truck back to Peter in the Winter of 2024, and it’s back to working on Peter’s property and is now his daily driver. In his own words: “the performance and sheer joy of this projected exceeded my high expectations. Peace Vans made it fun, let me behind the kimono (so to speak) and ultimately gave my truck another 30+ years of life”.

1977 Westfalia Camper

One of our first EV conversions, we loved it so much we kept it for ourselves. This 77 bus lives with Peace Vans as an ongoing test bed for new ideas and technology as well as for test drives and even daily rentals. Swing by anytime to check it out. This bus runs a slightly different configuration that our typical conversion - 5 Tesla modules creating about 30KwH of power for 70-80 miles of range.
